Mary Scott-Cebul

Committee: Strategic Planning

Current company: Self-Employed Design Anthropologist

Position: Strategic and Program Planning and Engagement Design Consultant

How long have you lived in Cleveland? Since 1987

Why did you choose to serve on the strategic planning committee? Committees are where Board work is done; and, I enjoy honing organizational strategy.

What do you see E!C looking like/what will E!Cs role in CLE be in the future? E!C can be an effective intermediary between the business and public sectors and young professionals. Its programs and services can provide opportunities for important interaction so that over time Cleveland is shaped in ways that will attract and sustain YPs long-term commitment.

What is your top tip for young professionals in Cleveland? Reach out for opportunities to serve by doing things you love to do.

What is your favorite thing about Cleveland? Its people and their deep connection to the land and water

What’s an interesting fact about you? I design friend’s gardens/landscapes in my spare time

How long have you lived in Cleveland? My whole life (31 years)

Why did you choose to serve on the EC Board? I’m passionate about the city of Cleveland and want to play a role in it’s future.

What do you see E!C looking like/what will E!Cs role in CLE be in the future? To continue to be the first place young professionals come to get involved.

What is your top tip for young professionals in Cleveland? Meet people, attend events, try new things, check out new places.

What is your favorite thing about Cleveland? Downtown.

What is an interesting fact about you? I attended about 70 of the 81 Tribe home games last season.

Position: Chief Marketing Officer

How long have you lived in Cleveland? Since I was 1 years old

Why did you choose to serve on the EC Board? I believe in the mission of E!C, I believe that we need to engage and retain young professionals in order to ensure that our communities and business community thrives into the future.

What do you see E!C looking like/what will E!Cs role in CLE be in the future? E!C’s role is continuing to be a conduit between YPs and business community and to continue to attract and retain YPs in northeast Ohio.

What is your top tip for young professionals in Cleveland? Be tenacious, learn about business communities, engage in the true work of community, such as grass roots, philanthropy, development, and entrepreneurial ventures, partner with each other, and enjoy the community that we live in, which is second to none in culture, sports, parks, recreational activities, connectivity.

What is your favorite thing about Cleveland? What isn’t my favorite thing about Cleveland? I choose to live here because it is musical, theatrical, active, celebrates our ethnicities, it’s a great place to grow up and grow old.

What is an interesting fact about you? I was born in Lebanon.

How long have you lived in Cleveland? I was born in Cleveland, and I came back full time in 1997

Why did you choose to serve on the EC Board? I’ve always loved Cleveland, at every stage of my life, and I’ve found if to be a great place to live, and want to share that with others.

What do you see E!C looking like/what will E!Cs role in CLE be in the future?  The future of E!C is still being discovered. With its continued development it will help Cleveland in the future. My hope is that E!C will become a platform to evolve Cleveland so that it will continue to be relevant to young adults.

What is your top tip for young professionals in Cleveland? Get out and go see all of the neighborhoods.

What is your favorite thing about Cleveland? The people.

What is an interesting fact about you? I love music!
