Every year when March comes around, I feel like you hear the same things… St. Patrick’s Day, spring and March Madness. While I am a huge basketball fan, I want to discuss some March Madness that is not of the basketball type. March is complete madness for Engage! Cleveland with 11 events going on!
I want to fill you in on all of these awesome opportunities as many include partner organizations.
First up, in February we began to co-host Emerging Leaders Conversations with Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish. In March we have 5 more sessions scheduled on:
- Tuesday, March 1 at 8:00 a.m. – Jobs and Job Training
- Thursday, March 3 at 12:00 p.m. – Transportation Issues
- Tuesday, March 8 at 12:00 p.m. – Having a Seat at the Table
- Thursday, March 10 at 8:00 a.m. – Development/Affordable Housing
- Monday March 21 at 12:00 p.m. – Safety/Crime
Each session provides 10 young professionals an opportunity to have a seat at the table with our County Executive and have their voice heard about specific topics. This event is free, but we have reached capacity.
On March 3, we will partner with Cleveland’s newest bakery that has a mission that will warm your heart and your belly. In addition to utilizing top-of-the-line baking techniques from European artisan bakery specialist, Maurice Chaplais, their breads, pastries, and café meals are prepared by staff on a pathway out of poverty. Join us to hear from Bloom’s general manager and head baker as well as sample their products during a pre-opening event at Bloom Bakery. The event is free, but limited registration remains.
In our continuous efforts to attract, engage and retain young professionals to Cleveland, we will be hosting a table in KeyBank’s Hospitality Room during the KeyBank Foundation Minority MBA Case Competition on March 5. We will be meeting with some of the brightest MBA students from across the country to encourage them to pick Cleveland for their next employment opportunity. This is a closed event for the students.
On March 12, the Greater Cleveland Caucus: A Town Hall Meeting on Community Solutions will be taking place with a variety of community organizations. Engage! Cleveland will drive a conversation around inclusion and will also have a table during the Fair. The event is free, so register today!
Ready to check out Cleveland’s newest cycling studio? Join us on Saturday, March 19 for a behind-the-scenes sneak peek and spinning ride at Beachwood’s newest studio, Cyclebar. Cyclebar is the only premium indoor cycling studio in the Beachwood area. As a part of their grand opening celebration, they are offering preview classes to select organizations in the community. This is a donation-based class with proceeds benefitting EC and our work. Register today!
Our annual Cleveland Cavaliers game and presentation is taking place on March 23. Over 100 young professionals are joining us to hear from a leader on the basketball operations side of the Cavs work and to cheer the Cavs on to a win. Registration for this event is closed, but we anticipate hosting another event in Fall 2016.
It is almost time for the 40th Annual Cleveland International Film Festival and EC is a community partner for the fourth year in a row. The film festival is a great way to experience some very unique films in Cleveland. On March 4, EC will announce our partner film and a discount code to save $2 per ticket to the 12-day long fest happening March 30 – April 10.
As you can see there is a lot going on in March, but we also have a few more things up our sleeves. Make sure to mark your calendar for our Taste of the Circle Event with Innova on April 28 where you will enjoy some awesome drinks and sample some of University Circle’s most delicious bites.
And don’t forget about our 3rd Annual Cleveland Young Professionals Week which will feature 30+ events happening from June 20 – 26, 2016.
Information about all of these events can be found here: http://www.engagecleveland.com/calendar.
