Kick-Off Football Season in Cleveland

Football season is underway! What will you be doing this Sunday to celebrate the Cleveland Browns' home opener against the Baltimore Ravens? Score a touchdown with friends and family with these fun game day plans: cleveland_browns_stadium_during_2008_nfl_seasonThe Muni Lot: Whether you were born bleeding brown and orange, or you're new to Cleveland and looking to get into the Browns spirit, the Municipal Lot (Muni Lot) is sure to make you feel right at home for game day festivities (just be sure to not cheer for or wear colors of the opponent). The Muni Lot is located at 1500 S Marginal Road, just steps from First Energy Stadium. We recommend strolling through the Muni Lot on your way to the game, versus actually parking there.

If the Muni Lot is not your scene, check out this 2016 Football Fan Party Guide from Cleveland.com. It contains suggested spots (near the bottom of the article) for brunches, lunches, and drink specials during home and away games. In addition, be sure to also consider the following:

Dive Bar, Downstairs at 1214 W 6th St. Cleveland, OH. Dive Bar is pro-Ohio everything. You will not miss a single Browns, Cavs, or Ohio State game while there. In fact, Dive Bar was voted "Best Place to Watch a Buckeyes Game" by Scene Magazine! They also offer various beer and drink specials during the game.

TownHall, 1909 West 25th St., Cleveland, OH 44113. In the heart of Ohio City right next to the West Side Market, TownHall is the perfect stop for pre-game brunch (beginning at 9am). A shuttle service also runs from TownHall to Barley House on West 6th street an hour and a half before each home game.

Finally, when cheering on your Ohio team, make sure you look the part. The following T-shirt companies can help you represent Cleveland:

Cleveland Clothing Company (CLE Clothing Co.) – Founded in 2008 by two lifelong friends – a graphic designer and an entrepreneur. Their motto from the start has been “Spreading Cleveland Pride, One T-Shirt at a Time.” They have been recognized as “Best Local T-shirt Company” by Cleveland Magazine each year since 2009. They carry gear in support of all major Cleveland sports teams, as well as surrounding neighborhoods, monikers, heritage, and local events/attractions. You can buy from their online football collection here, or check out information on their store locations here.

Fresh Brewed Tees – You have probably seen FBTs in their well-known retail truck or at a kiosk in your local shopping mall. Fresh Brewed has no retail locations yet, however, there has been talks of opening a small location at the West Side Market in Ohio City. For now, you can find all of their Cleveland football gear here.

GV Art & Design – Before owning the popular “Cleveland That I Love” campaign, which started back in 2009, this company began sparking local and National news from its pop art Etch a Sketch designs. GV Apparel is now featured in professional team shops and carried in dozens of stores throughout NEO. They opened their first retail shop in August 2014 and it continues to draw visits from some of the top Cleveland athletes and celebrities. Shop their orange and brown collection here and check out their store locations here.

Homage – Founded in Columbus in 2007, the owner is inspired by all things vintage, which is the base of the retro-inspired T-shirt company, and continues to expand its retail locations into major cities in Ohio. Homage carries the largest variety of college, sports teams, destinations, and pop culture designs that come on all articles of clothing. You can find Cleveland football gear here to suit your fan needs. Their retail stores are all located in cool locations, so be sure to check them out here.

Let us know if this helped your game day experience. I am sure EC council members will be hitting up some of the locations mentioned. Until Sunday … HERE WE GO BROWNIES! HERE WE GO!
