Get to know Jared Mandell, Marketing & Events Intern

Hi! My name is Jared Mandell and I am one of Engage! Cleveland’s Marketing and Events Interns. I am a rising sophomore at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, but I grew up in Solon, Ohio. Though I left Northeast Ohio last fall to attend school, I have since grown even more attached to Cleveland. Sure, the Atlanta weather is great, yet I have come to realize that Cleveland is an overlooked city that deserves its time to shine.

Growing up, I experienced some of the many things that Cleveland has to offer. Not only did I go to every Cleveland Cavaliers, Indians, and even Browns game that I could attend, I also ate my way around the city and saw amazing shows at Playhouse Square. When I arrived at Emory, I was immediately questioned on what Cleveland has to offer besides a football team that loses every game and a ton of snow. I immediately realized that Cleveland is even more unrecognized than I thought.

Nevertheless, each time I am asked about Cleveland I am able to talk endlessly about everything that makes Cleveland great. From loyal sports fans to proud community members, Cleveland is my city. I will forever root for Cleveland, even if it's the perceived underdog, and I want to help Cleveland gain the recognition it deserves.

At Engage! Cleveland, I hope to make people, specifically the young professional audience, aware of what makes Cleveland so awesome. I know that young professionals who are engaged to their community are more likely to stay, and that is exactly what led me to be interested in an internship at Engage! Cleveland. This amazing non-profit connects so many people to the city that I love, and I can't wait to help them achieve their mission. I am so excited to spend this summer in Cleveland with a organization that will likely make me love the 216 even more.
