E!C's Rising Star Profile: Erika L. Anthony

Erika Anthony HeadshotErika L. Anthony has a passion for young professional connectivity and an exceptional level of community involvement. In addition to her position as the Director of Business Development at Oriana House, Inc., Erika serves as the Board Chair for the Cleveland Young Professional Senate, and as a Board Member for Negative Space Gallery and Northeast Ohio Voter Advocates. In the spring of 2013, she participated in the Cleveland Leadership Center’s Civic Entrepreneurial Boot Camp and currently participates in Cleveland Leadership Center’s Bridge Builders Program, Class of 2014. Born and raised in Long Island, NY, Erika has a unique perspective on Cleveland. She lovingly refers to it as a “big-little” city, and explains, “it’s big in the sense that we have all the great amenities that big cities (i.e. NYC, Chicago, Atlanta) have, such as phenomenal restaurants, superb arts and culture venues…however, it’s little in the sense that Cleveland is not overwhelmingly big. You can afford to access the great amenities and take advantage of the great homes and apartments.”

Erika claims that her move to Cleveland allowed her to grow and evolve as a person, because she was forced to step outside of her comfort zone. She admits that engaging with people was difficult at first, but she began attending events and networking with community members to find her way. When approaching unknown territory, Erika channels a favorite quote: “Forget all the reasons why it won’t work and believe the one reason it will!”
