E!C Rising Star: Emily Monteleone
This issue’s featured Rising Star is Emily Monteleone, a Research Supervisor of Solid Tumor Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic. As a member of the Executive Board for Cleveland Clinic’s Group of Aspiring Leaders (GOAL), Emily believes it is her civic duty to serve as a liaison between young professionals and the amazing resources that Cleveland has to offer. “I try to get involved in many experiences and projects and not only contribute to them, but also share the information I learn with others.” Emily has participated in the first two Engage! Cleveland Young Professional Workshops and also worked with Wigs for Kids, a non-profit out of Westlake, which has enabled her to learn skills that she can then share with other young professionals that she meets and works with. “I have been able to give back to my colleagues and spread knowledge farther across the leadership spectrum at our large enterprise,” Emily explains.
Her motivation to both gain and spread knowledge stems from a dream to see young professionals support each other and build a stronger future for Cleveland--the city that “has her heart”. She states, “Cleveland is a town with a rich history and an even brighter future and it is both exciting and humbling to play even a very small part in that.” When asked about the opportunities Cleveland holds for young professionals Emily states, “I am a firm believer that success is what you make of it and you have to step up, get involved and show people that you are a leader. Northeastern Ohio is rich with opportunities to do just that.” We couldn’t agree more, Emily!
