Best of Cleveland Party…AKA Over indulging in my favorite things

As a member of the Host Committee for the 2015 Cleveland Magazine Best of Cleveland Party, I knew I was going to eat…a lot…on Friday, October 16, 2015. It is one of my favorite nights of the year. All of Cleveland’s best restaurants, bars and other unique concepts get to showcase why they deserve the best of XYZ title in their category. So when I walked into the room, I knew to look for some usual suspects like B Spot who are always there as a Cleveland staple to find my burger slider. Then I knew I could peak around at all of the new restaurants that have recently become Cleveland staples too.

I arrived at the party to be greeted by the infamous red dress lady. Have you heard of her? We actually walked in on a red carpet that was essentially her dress. The awesome staff at Party 411, who Engage! Cleveland partners with too, were tending to her. What a sight.

In the VIP area, the drinks were flowing and the food was plentiful. I made sure to stop by Spa West for a quick pick-me-up chair massage. From there, I stopped to talk to the chef at Adega who had an awesome version of elevated pork and beans to taste.

From there, I headed into Public Auditorium to meet up with several Engage! Cleveland staff, Board and Committee members who were also attending. I found the girls quickly and we snapped a photo.

IMG_9384 I continued to walk around trying delicious bites and I have to point out a few of my favorites.

BurgersB Spot as previously mentioned was delicious, but I have to also give it up to Tri-C’s Hospitality Management program that had an awesome umami burger.

Ice Cream – I am from the Youngstown area and Handel’s will always be my favorite ice cream, but like any other Clevelander, Mitchell’s never disappoints, especially when they bring their vegan salted caramel pecan ice cream. Yum!

Sweets – a little more wandering and I found my favorite cupcakes…A Cookie and A Cupcake. The sweets category was awesome this year with treats from Mainstreet Cupcakes and Campbell’s too. Cue the sugar OVERLOAD!

Then I ran into my favorite EC intern, Abbey Geib who was experiencing her first ever Best of Cleveland Party. #lovedit

Next, I took part in the action. The balloon artists were amazing…I mean literally amazing. I’ve never seen such contraptions. I chatted up the sister of the owner who shared that she couldn’t do quite as intricate displays, but offered to make me 3 Spider Man balloons after learning I’d be visiting my nephews the next morning. #bestauntever #adultswearingballoonanimals

From there a stop at Banyan Tree resulted with a cute bracelet and my hubby took a CLE tote (mine too, you know)

By this point, it was time to recognize the charity partner, Breakthrough Schools. Their dancers are AH-mazing! They did such a great job and it was great to see their staff manning a booth talking about their work.

After a long, but exciting Friday, it was time to head home.

I am so thankful to serve on the Host Committee and for Cleveland Magazine’s partnership providing our young professionals discounted tickets to the event every year. I mean let’s be honest there is nothing better than celebrating all that Cleveland has to offer with thousands of your new best foodie friends. Mark your calendar for next year. This is an event not to be missed!
