Thanks, E!C for a summer like no other
Just like that, my time at Engage! Cleveland has come to an end. I can’t believe how fast this summer flew by! I arrived just as things were ramping up for Cleveland YP Week and now it’s already time to say goodbye to my amazing E!C team. When I first started, I set out to expand my knowledge and make a difference in the YP community. Thanks to my new friends at E!C, I feel that I accomplished those goals.
One of the best experiences of this internship was getting to be a part of YP Week, both as an attendee and as a representative of E!C. I loved getting to work behind the scenes and see how such a small staff puts on an event of that magnitude. I was able to make real contributions and see our team’s hard work pay off. As an attendee, I was lucky enough to sit in on all of the lunches with community leaders and experts. Each lunch had its own unique takeaway. Some talked about all of the incredible things Cleveland has to offer (a lot of which I had never tried and now I have a big bucket list of Cleveland must-dos). Others discussed their career paths and shared inspiring stories of how they overcame obstacles and achieved their goals. YP Week was my favorite part of this summer, and I can’t wait to come back as an attendee next year!
I’m grateful to the E!C staff for helping me get the most out of this internship. I learned so much by watching and listening, but also by doing. I’m thankful they trusted me with various projects and gave me opportunities to test myself. I’m currently majoring in marketing and have interests in events and social media, and I got the chance to put in real work in both of these disciplines. From day one, everybody was kind, helpful, and there to guide me when I needed it. This truly was a fantastic experience!
This isn’t a final goodbye. As I mentioned above, I plan on attending E!C events in the future and maybe guest writing a blog or two! So what’s next? I’m currently preparing for a very busy fall semester at Tri-C. I look forward to carrying what I learned this summer with me into my future career. If you’re a student like me and thinking about an internship, Engage! Cleveland is currently taking applications for the fall! Click here to apply.
