Introducing Our Marketing & Events Intern, Carolyn Skubon

Hi! I’m Carolyn Skubon, and I am so excited to spend this summer as a Marketing & Events Intern for Engage! Cleveland. I grew up in Brunswick and spent most of my life here in Northeast Ohio, until my family relocated to Virginia Beach, VA during my senior year of high school. Since then, I’ve lived back and forth between Virginia Beach and Southern Maryland before returning to Brunswick in 2013.

During my time in other cities, I learned how little most people actually know about Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland area, outside of snow, LeBron, and the Cuyahoga River fire. I always loved getting the opportunity to share what a great place it was to grow up in, how passionate and hardworking the people are, and all of the new and incredible things the area has to offer. From our beautiful Metroparks, to fantastic restaurants, to cheering for one of our sports teams alongside some of the most diehard fans in the country, Cleveland truly is an amazing place to live.

When I’m not interning, you can find me volunteering at Berea Animal Rescue Fund, indulging in Sunday brunch at some of my favorite restaurants (I LOVE Townhall!), or hanging at the park with my two fur babies, my husky, Juneau, and my shepherd/collie mix, Hugo.

Upon moving back to Northeast Ohio in 2013, I helped start and run Xerxes Athletics, a gym in Brunswick. During the 5 years I spent there, I discovered how much I loved creating social media content and planning events to serve the community. This led me to return to college to pursue a degree in marketing at Tri-C. I hope to graduate next year and major in Digital Marketing at Baldwin Wallace University.

At Tri-C’s Summer Internship Fair, I read all of the employers’ descriptions and was immediately drawn to E!C. Their mission and the work they do brings out the best in the city I love. I’m truly grateful I get to play a role here at E!C and be a part of this organization. Over my next few months interning here, I hope to expand my knowledge and make a difference in the YP community. Here’s to an exciting summer in the CLE!
